Politeama Genovese Theater
In 1868, the Chiarella brothers, Giacomo and Giovanni, commissioned a new building to be erected: the Politeama. Of Neoclassic style, the building was round in shape and was destroyed by air bombing strikes in 1942. Inaugurated in 1955, the current Politeama Genovese Theater is very different from its predecessor and, since 1994, has been managed by a group of private companies. The theater's offerings include various types of shows that boast actors and artists of national and international renown. Audiences may thus enjoy musicals, concerts, comedies, humorous plays, and cabarets.
Carlo Felice Theater
Inaugurated in 1828, the theater was seriously damaged by bombing raids in 1942, but it was not until 1987 that the new Carlo Felice Theater began to be erected. In 1991, the theater came under the direction of the Municipal Opera Theater. The new theater contains a polygonal lantern, which lets in the light from the ceiling to illuminate the indoor piazza. The theater's four stages and integrated computerized electronic equipment render it one of the most important theater complexes in Italy. The theater is also equipped with a small stage, the Montale Auditorium, which is separate from the main theater.

Corte and Duse Theaters
Founded in 1951, the Teatro Stabile of Genoa is considered one of the most important and technologically advanced Italian public theaters. Its official location is within the Teatro della Corte, where both its own shows and those independent productions of greater depth and complexity are held. The theater also houses its own smaller theater, the Teatro Duse, as well as an adaptable stage, the Piccolo Teatro della Corte, which can be mounted on the Teatro della Corte's main stage or elsewhere, either indoors or outdoors. The theater manages an Actor's School and has founded the Museum and Library of Acting.

Tosse Theater
Founded in 1975 and conceived by Tonino Conte and Emanuele Luzzati, the theater's main focus is the production of its own shows. Thanks to the Commune of Genoa, since 1987 the theater has been housed in the Sant'Agostino Complex, which has been turned into a triple theater space. It has thus become the first multi-stage Italian theater to satisfy the most diverse functions. Since 1995, it has become known as the Teatro Stabile Privato and has also distinguished itself for other activities involving close contact with the general public.

Gustavo Modena TheaterIn 1997, after a careful restoration, the Modena Theater finally reopened its doors. Inaugurated in 1857 and intended to rival the Carlo Felice Theater, the Modena Theater constitutes a true architectural jewel and the only example of a nineteenth-century stage in Genoa. Housed within the newly renovated Communal Market, in 2001 the Mercato Stage was inaugurated. The Archivolto Theater was founded in Genoa in 1986, and became a Foundation in 2003. Since its beginnings, it has mainly focused on comedies and musicals, but has also operated within the youth theater sector.
