Fugassa Festival
The Festival of Genoese Focaccia
Genoa is preparing to host the first edition of the Fugassa Festival, taking place on Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27 at the Porto Antico. Two days dedicated to Genoese focaccia and traditional baking craftsmanship, featuring more than fifteen events, dozens of exhibitors, and industry professionals from across Italy.
The program includes tastings, live cooking demonstrations, and family workshops, along with the chance to meet local bakers and watch them at work. Breads and specialties from across Italy will also be on display, alongside discussions on key issues for the industry, such as artisanal craftsmanship, generational turnover, and the relationship between businesses and the local area.
The festival will also be an opportunity to relaunch the Marchio Focaccia Genovese, established nearly thirty years ago to protect the quality of the product, and to present the Manifesto di Genova per la Focaccia e l'Arte Bianca, a document that will gather shared commitments to preserving local traditions and supporting the next generation of bakers.
