Michelangelo – The Divine Artist
Palazzo Ducale di Genova hosts the exhibition dedicated to Michelangelo Buonarroti, sculptor, painter, architect, and poet, who was the creator of incomparable works marked by moral intensity, powerful formal energy, and a profound complexity of expressed ideas. Because of his multifaceted personality, Buonarroti was defined as a “universal artist,” a term that dates back to Giorgio Vasari, who used this expression to encapsulate a widely shared critical judgment.
An exhibition that focuses in particular on one aspect of the life of the Tuscan master: the encounters that marked his life.
Generous and suspicious, frank and cautious, amiable and brusque, Michelangelo is a man of a thousand contradictions, who emerges as ever more fascinating and charismatic each time one revisits the immense body of masterpieces he created, as well as the documents that help us reconstruct his life, his work, his relationships, and his affections.
