Luzzati. Posters and Editorial Graphics 1947–2007
The exhibition, unprecedented in its kind, unfolds as a sectioned itinerary organised by periods, themes, and techniques, beginning in the 1940s and reaching 2007 with the last poster created for the Sanremo Festival.
Over one hundred posters designed by the Master for theatre productions, events, cities, games, exhibitions, and cultural happenings showcase the compositional eclecticism of lettering and image.
Typography merges and itself becomes figure, image.
For the first time, the exhibition presents Luzzati’s first poster, created in 1947 for the Jewish Theatre. Also on display are the posters from the series dedicated to Rodari, The Story of All Stories, posters for animated cinema, The Nutcracker by Amedeo Amodio, Pulcinella for Aterballetto, Tom Thumb for the Teatro alla Scala, and Papageno for the 1993 Spoleto Festival, along with many other masterpieces of graphic design of striking visual impact and extraordinary evocative power. The exhibition is completed by theatre programmes, invitations, greeting cards, major magazine and book covers, corporate gadgets, objects, awards, and other materials, including previously unpublished items.
