INTRODUCTION

With a view to promoting truly sustainable tourism, Duetorrihotels has embarked on a comprehensive initiative involving our Suppliers and our Team Members, while also aiming to raise awareness and actively engage our Guests.

This document represents a key milestone in our path, which began over ten years ago, and bears witness to our ongoing commitment to environmental, social and governance responsibility.

In a rapidly evolving global context, we acknowledge the importance of addressing environmental and social challenges through an increasingly systematic and innovative approach, with the aim of making a lasting and meaningful contribution to both economic growth and the social fabric of the communities in which we operate.

This project takes shape through concrete actions, as we translate our commitment into practice by prioritising local suppliers, sourcing energy from renewable providers, actively reducing plastic usage, promoting waste separation and recycling, all with the clear objective of lowering our overall carbon footprint.

Who we are

Duetorrihotels was officially established in 2010, building on the foundations of two properties already under its management since 1995. 2010 marked a defining moment for the Group, with the simultaneous addition of three prestigious hotels: the Grand Hotel Majestic “già Baglioni”, a 5-star luxury hotel in Bologna; the Due Torri Hotel, a 5-star luxury hotel in Verona; and the Bernini Palace Hotel, a 5-star property in Florence.

Continuing along a path established years earlier, Duetorrihotels has made respect for people, care for the environment, and the cultivation of long-standing relationships with local suppliers an integral part of the DNA of these new establishments.

Finally, in 2012, the Bristol Palace Hotel, a 5-star property in Genoa, joined the Group, immediately embracing our management philosophy with enthusiasm and determination.

OUR CONNECTION WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY

Since establishing our presence in the cities where our hotels are located, we have consistently hosted and promoted events that enhance the visibility and cultural vitality of the local area.
 
These include book presentations, artistic initiatives and annual awards, through which we provide financial support to emerging talents. Examples include the PREMIO MORANDI in Bologna, dedicated to young artists whose expressive qualities echo those of Giorgio Morandi; the PREMIO CASARINI in Verona, reserved for creators whose works recall the style of the Veronese fresco painter Casarini; the PREMIO PAGANINI in Genoa, inspired by the great Niccolò Paganini and awarded to exceptional young violinists; and in Florence, the BTO WOMEN BERNINI AWARD, recognising those who, through originality and communicative skill, convey the spirit of a destination in an engaging and distinctive way. We actively participate in FAI Heritage Days, have hosted charitable events in support of AIRC, and remain consistently open to proposals and collaborations from local organisations and institutions..
 

 

Our sustainability journey: achievements and next steps

So far, we have implemented a number of concrete measures, including widespread LED lighting, replacing single-use amenities in guest rooms with refillable dispensers (previously packaged in recycled ocean plastic), and installing state-of-the-art heat generators to replace traditional boilers. We work with a linen supplier holding multiple certifications for environmentally responsible practices. The complimentary water in guest rooms is provided in Tetra Pak cartons with caps of botanical origin. In our Florence and Genoa hotels (while Bologna and Verona continue to use traditional mechanical keys), plastic magnetic key cards have been replaced with cards made from renewable plant-based materials.

 

How we inspire our guests

This is undoubtedly the most fascinating and demanding aspect of our journey.

Our first step has been to involve our Team Members, encouraging them to embrace our sustainability project with enthusiasm, awareness, and a strong sense of responsibility. In turn, they help our Guests understand the importance of becoming, together with us, active partners in the shared responsibility of respecting and protecting our planet..
