Founded in 1905 by the scholar and lover of Oriental culture Edoardo Chiossone, it houses an extraordinary collection of works mainly from Japan, China and Korea. The history of the museum dates back to the time when Chiossone, who had been commissioned to open a painting school in Tokyo on behalf of the Japanese government, began collecting Oriental art objects.

Over the years,his passion led him to collect a wide range of works of considerable artistic and historical value, including paintings, prints, ceramics, textiles and folk art objects. The E.
